Our birthday parties are always our biggest events - we'll need all you SoJusters there to celebrate - and to eat up all the cupcakes! What may seem like just another liberal social group is really the start of a revolution. What can we create together? Join us if you are ready to go BEYOND ALLIES and build a CROSS-ISSUE PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT. RSVP at http://www.sojust.org (our main website and view Member Profiles, Message Board and Calendar of Progressive Events). Newcomers always welcomed! This is not a meeting - it's a fun networking social! No Program. No Speaker. Just Us. For Justice. Arrive early! Dance Party starts at 8pm "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution." Once again we're hosting a Dance Party from 8-9pm after 2 awesome hours from 6-8pm of building and strengthening relationships. Want to cross-promote your events and campaigns? Looking for like-minded progressives to hang out with in Boston? Are you new to the area and looking for groups to get involved in? Are you psyched about building strong cross-issue coalitions? Join us! YES, WE MEAN YOU. Members are all ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, levels of activism and professions. We hope you see someone like yourself and meet someone you otherwise wouldn't have. HEY ORGANIZERS! If you're involved with a group or project and want to spread the word bring flyers for the free lit table. ACTION STATIONS - if you have an action that can be done in 2 minutes (sign a petition) or within 2 weeks of the event (attend rally, stuff mass mailing) bring it so SoJusters can get connected to you and your work. This is not a typical tabling event, there'll be lots of opportunity to schmooze and network! *The venue is open to anyone over 18 and is physically accessible - elevator is at the back of the venue. Lir is across from the Hynes Convention Center. Help spread the word! Dick Gregory entered the comedy scene in 1961 when Chicago’s Playboy Club booked him as a replacement comedian and his ability to win over the audience landed him a three year contract at the Club. By 1962, Gregory had become a nationally known headline performer, selling out nightclubs, making national television appearances, and recording comedy albums. Gregory’s acts drew on current events, especially focusing on racial issues. As an activist, Gregory took part in the Civil Rights Movement and used his celebrity status to draw attention to such issues as segregation and disfranchisement. In 1962, Gregory’s autobiography became the number one best-selling book in America and has sold over seven million copies over the decades. Dates: February 1, 2, 4, 5, 6m, 2011 Time: Weeknights 7:30pm, Sunday matinees 3pm Boston Lyric Opera presents Viktor Ullmann’s The Emperor of Atlantis, or Death Quits sung in English. An emperor unleashes total war. He orders destruction. He orders death. But Death…Well, Death doesn’t take orders. Now what? In 1943, composer Viktor Ullmann and poet Petr Kien were prisoners in the concentration camp Terezin, where they created this almost inconceivably wry and touching opera. They died at Auschwitz. Their opera survives—an allusive, haunting, texturally rich testament to their spirit. The performance will include the world premiere of a prologue, composed by Richard Beaudoin, and specially commissioned by Boston Lyric Opera. Music by Viktor Ullmann | Libretto by poet Petr Kien | Sung in English BLO premiere and new BLO production BLO’s Opera Annex is a fully staged production designed for an alternative space outside the traditional opera theater. Tickets start at $33.

Join us for a program of brilliant, colorful chamber music on February 12 and 13 with Ravel’s Piano Trio, Mozart’s Trio for clarinet, viola, and piano, and other works by Steven Stucky, Kaija Saariaho, and Darius Milhaud. Musicians speak of color almost as much as painters, and Ravel’s vivid palette has been an inspiration to nearly every composer since. Steven Stucky invokes the great colorist Paul Klee, and Kaija Saariaho’s spectral analysis of sound has led her to develop a unique, rigorous musical idiom that is undeniably sensual, eloquent and lyrical. $20, $30, $40; $5 off for students/seniors
